Ten Hag Issues Bold Magiure Statement After Costly First-half Errors In United’s Second Pre-season Win Over Melbourne United

Erik Ten Hag believes his Man Utd side will definitely have to keep improving despite two consecutive resounding pre-season victories.

United rallied from a goal down early in their second pre-season game to thump home side Melbourne victory 4-1 with Scott McTominay, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford recording a goal each.

United proved to be too hot to handle for their Australian hosts with yet another dominant performance on the bounce as Ten Hag continues to effect considerable changes to the United setup.

A definite cause to worry for the Dutch gaffer will be how his side collapsed defensively early in the game to gift their hosts a surprise lead, with skipper Harry Magiure found wanting in the build up.

The 29-year-old clearly provided enough space for Melbourne Victory to clinch an opener in the fourth minute.

According to Ten Hag, the team is a work in progress and must keep improving both defensively and offensively. “it’s clear from the beginning, even before the preseason.

We have to keep working hard to implement our system well enough. Today’s victory also provides for us opportunity to correct our errors at the back and also in attacking” he said.

Quizzed on United’s structure defensively, especially Magiure’s proneness to errors, Ten Hag conceded there’ll be needed improvements. “it’s a step by step pattern. Like I said, every match provides opportunity for us to get better”

“We’re working really hard to ensure we get the best from every player, and of course there be improvements. So far he’s [Magiure] shown commitment and desire to get better and help the team through these friendlies and beyond. He’s an important part of the squad and will definitely get better ” he added.
