Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has conceded that last incomers at Stamford Bridge would have to earn a place in Blues’ lineup next season
Chelsea completed the signing of Napoli centre back Kalidou Koulibaly yesterday with more impending transfers on the lookout after manager Thomas Tuchel confirmed his side is quite focused on solidifying their defensive structure for next season.
“If you look at our most recent contacts it’s clear where our priorities lie this period. We have to ensure balance in our defence before anything else” Tuchel answered to questions of Chelsea interest in Ronaldo.
Meanwhile, the former Dortmund boss is keen on ensuring his latest defense recruits fight for their place in the squad.
“Well it’s this club’s DNA to demand the very best from the players, which they’re aware of. We have to try to compete better this season against fantastic sides. Of course every player knows this and must be ready to fight for the club, also for their place in the team” Tuchel said earlier.
With Koulibaly already secured, the Blues have seemingly turned their attention to concluding deals for Man City defender Nathan Ake and PSG’s Presnel Kimpembe.
“Kalidou [Koulibaly] is strong physical and mentally, able to compete in the air, reads the well and is of course a good addition to our team” Tuchel added on Koulibaly arrival.
“Of course like I said earlier, everyone has to fight for the club, this season offers a good opportunity for us to right our wrongs. Not just for Kalidou, but the players to come, we have to be competitive as a team. In the backline of course he provides wider options for us and better structure.” he added.
